What is therapy?
Counseling therapy is designed to help you explore the parts of your life that are not working the way you would like them to. There are always life events past and present that can cause us pain, confusion and even cause us to doubt ourselves. Working through painful and frustrating challenges with a trained therapist can often resolve issues more quickly than struggling through it alone. Therapy can clarify what’s happening and how it is affecting how you feel about yourself. This process paves the way for new and creative solutions to your challenges and can help you feel grounded.
How does therapy work?
The moment you enter my office you become the most important person/s in the world to me. Whatever you choose to share about yourself is completely up to you. I want to understand you and attempt to experience the world as you experience it. Spending time getting to know you enables us to have “congruent communication”. Congruent communication is communicating within a shared context. It is looking at the world from the same perspective. Seeing the world through your eyes helps me understand who you are underneath the defenses erected over time to protect you against life’s threats. It opens you up to re-evaluate old beliefs, identify unconscious issues and overcome past traumas.
Individuals and Partners Therapy
Over the years my practice has included individuals, couples and families experiencing depression, anxiety and repeated conflicts. I am a certified mediator for families in conflict. For the past 15 years I have also developed a specialization in treating and diagnosing High Functioning Aspergers/Autism clients and their families. Most of my clients are 16 years and older. I see many couples that are struggling to hold their relationships together. Social communication and interpersonal frustrations threaten the viability of their relationship. Many of my clients on the spectrum are also seeking employment or have jobs, but are in danger of loosing them or failing to advance. Job search coaching and direction are an integral part of the overall coaching process. People skills are critical for success in today’s workplace. Relationship and social communication coaching can make the difference in whether someone gets hired and stays employed. My corporate experience gives me the knowledge to advise, coach and if necessary intervene for individuals in the workplace. My training is in “Results Coaching”. A program used by many Fortune 500 companies.
My wish for you is to live a life of full of promise and opportunity.
